Alhaji Aliko Dangote, chairman and CEO of the
Dangote Foundation, has pledged to rebuild health facilities in Gujba and
Gulani local government areas of Yobe State, which were liberated from the
control of Boko Haram terrorists months ago.
Dangote stated this at a meeting with Governor
Ibrahim Gaidam and other senior officials of the Yobe, State government, Mr.
Bill Gates, co-chairman, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, as well as
representatives of numerous development partners and organisations.
Dangote made the disclosure at the first mid-year
review meeting since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on
strengthening Routine Immunization (RI) between the Yobe State Government and
the Bill & Melinda Gates and Dangote foundations.
Gates and Dangote joined the meeting via live video
link from Seattle and Miami in the United States, respectively.
Dr. Ado Mohammed, Executive Director of the National
Primary Health Care Development Agency, also joined the meeting.
Also in attendance were traditional rulers, Dr.
Muhammad Ibn Abali Muhammad Idrissa, Emir of Fika, and Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar
Sulayman, Emir of Bade.
The meeting acknowledged the efforts of the Yobe
State Government in the significant progress recorded in immunization coverage
across 15 of the 17 councils of the state.
Gaidam restated the commitment of his administration
to advancing primary health care and sustaining the partnership with the two
foundations.
