Ronaldinho quits Indian Premier Futsal

Ronaldinho has been forced to quit the Indian Premier Futsal after just two matches.

The Brazil legend will return to his homeland as 'brand ambassador' for the Paralympic Games in Rio which means he has had to leave his role in India just days after scoring five goals on his debut for Goa.

The 36-year-old will be replaced by former international team-mate Cafu who joins Luis Figo, Paul Scholes and a host of other stars in India.

Former Brazil World cup winner Cafu replaces Ronaldinho

In a statement reported by Gazetta World, Ronaldinho said:

'I have had an amazing time playing in Chennai.

'Unfortunately, just when I was getting in my groove and getting to know the country better, I have to go back, as my country needs me.

'The para-Olympics committee has honoured me to be their ambassador, which requires me to be in Brazil.

'I was looking forward towards being in Goa, but I learnt only yesterday of this development. I am delighted to spend these days in your beautiful country and promote the game I grew up playing.'

On Sunday, the former Barcelona star proved he's not lost any of his talent after scoring an outrageous lob

Ronaldinho, who became famous for his audacious trickery and skill during matches, put on a masterclass to help his side to a comfortable 7-2 victory over Bengaluru.

The 36-year-old, who retired from professional eleven-a-side football with Fluminense in 2015, showed no signs of rustiness as he wowed the crowd at the inaugural tournament in India.
